I love inspirational quotes. I know a lot of people think they’re cheesy, but these sentiments are quoted over and over because they’re also helpful.
For me, when I’m feeling stressed or sad or lonely, or I’m just going through a hard time because of school or an issue with a friend or my parents, these quotes help me to center myself and gain perspective I’ve lost because I’m so stuck in my head.
Here are a few of my favorites. Next time you’re in a bad place, look these over (or search for your own that speak to you) and see if it changes your mood, even a little!
“If you are always trying to be normal, you’ll never know how amazing you can be.” – Maya Angelou
“Want to be happy? Stop trying to be perfect.” – Brene Brown
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde
“Beautiful people are not always good, but good people are always beautiful.” – Imam Ali
“I think the tiniest little thing can change the course of your day, which can change the course of your year, which can change who you are.” – Taylor Swift
“Patience is a bitter plant, but its fruit is sweet.” – Chinese proverb
“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” – Maya Angelou
“When I’m not feeling my best, I ask myself, ‘What are you gonna do about it?’ I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me.” – Beyonce
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” —Mark Twain
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.” —Michael Jordan
I hope some of these made you smile. Remember, you can collect your own quotes that speak to you, and keep them in a journal or put them on your bathroom mirror or over your desk. Then whenever you’re looking for some inspiration, you know where to go.
